Cleveland Neighborhood Progress is pleased to announce that Cleveland Metroparks is the first-ever winner of the Vibrant City Impact Award. Cleveland Metroparks will receive this award at the May 2 Vibrant City clevelandMSRAwards Lunch. Winners for seven other Vibrant City Awards and the Morton L. Mandel Leadership in Community Development Award will be announced at the event. Join us in congratulating the Metroparks for the amazing impact it has made to the city’s neighborhoods:

  • Since the 2013 acquisition of lakefront property, Cleveland Metroparks has attracted nearly  6.5 million visitors to waterfront parks.  These recent lakefront additions include: Edgewater Park, Wendy Park at Whiskey Island, East 55th Street Marina, Gordon Park, Euclid Beach Park, Villa Angela Park and Wildwood Park.
  • Rivergate Park located in Cleveland’s Industrial Flats neighborhood has become a recreational hub featuring trail connections, including the Cleveland Foundation Centennial Trail and Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail along with access to the Cuyahoga River.  Plus, Merwin’s Wharf, a full service restaurant, opened in 2014 and provides guests the opportunity to relax and enjoy dining on the scenic riverfront after a full-day of recreating in the park.
  • Cleveland Metroparks is set to launch a Water Taxi this Memorial Day weekend to connect the East and West Bank of the Flats.  Guests will be able to ride all-day for a $2 charge with unlimited trips across the river.  The water taxi will accommodate 18 passengers and up to four bicycles on a first-come-first-served basis.

We hope you will join us on May 2 and celebrate with all of the winners!
